Everland Tailored for Kids Part 1:
Have you ever planned a trip to the amusement park with your children or niece and nephew only to realize you have no idea which rides and attractions are best suited for them? Even for young children, there are many more options that go beyond the merry-go-round.
If you want to make sure the little ones enjoy all the thrill rides they want and get a day full of action-packed activities, look no further than our kids’ guide to Everland, a sprawling theme park and zoo located just outside of Korea’s capital Seoul, for when the weather is beautiful outdoors.
Up the Thrills
Think about the last time you tried to climb up a bookcase, jump from a table, or race down an ice-coated pavement. There’s a good chance it dates back to your childhood. Children are daring, adventurous, and risk-taking, so let them experience the best options available, with this list of top 5 thrill rides not to miss out on.
You’re on a mission to rescue a poor lion tangled in a net, high up in the sky, but be ready for a journey full of stomach-dropping moments leading up to the last minute. Your ascent may be slow, but the fall unexpectedly fast. Children must be at least 90 cm to ride.
Flash Pang Pang
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to live in a flower like Thumbelina did? Flash Pang Pang brings that fairy tale to life but with a lot of ups and downs. The tulip chairs bounce riders around while doing a 360 rotation. Children under 100 cm must be accompanied by adults.
It turns out the race between the hare and the tortoise is not yet over. Who said roller coasters are not for kids? The sharp curves and unexpected dips promise an exhilarating experience, but you must be at least 100 cm to ride.
A journey to a far-off land comes with an added thrill factor. Grab a seat onboard this pirate ship, which will rattle even those with nerves of steel. You must be at least 110 cm to ride.
There’s nothing better than enjoying a splash from the highest water roller coaster drop in the country. The Thunder Falls also come with a backward plunge so get ready for a surprise. The minimum height requirement is 100 cm for this ride. Bring raincoats if you want, but if not, be prepared to get soaked to the skin!
Animal Kingdom Adventures
Once your feet are back on the ground, you can change up the pace of excitement by spending time with different animals in various zones across the park.
Start the tour off with everyone’s fuzzy favorite, pandas. At Panda World, you can get a close-up look at the pandas climbing, eating, and rolling around. What adds to the experience is the chance for kids to get acquainted with the lesser panda, also known as the red panda for its color. These mammals are native to China, areas surrounding the Himalayas, and Myanmar, and are much smaller in size, hence, the name “lesser” panda. They actually have a lot in common with the giant panda, with their love for eating stalks of bamboo and sixth “finger” on each of their front paws. Lesser pandas also eat eggs, small birds, and roots, and are known to be introverts, more active from dusk to dawn.
From bears to birds. Stop by at Bird Paradise where visitors can feed beautiful lorikeets, which are small- or medium-sized parrots with brilliant colors. With just 1,000 KRW (less than 1 USD), you can watch the beautiful parrots gently peck away at bird seeds as you feed them.
If you want to see more action from some stunning birds, check out this magical performance by eagles, doves, and even peacocks. The trainer and birds move in perfect harmony, creating lasting memories for everyone.
Animal Wonder World
Coatis (Nasua narica), prairie dogs, fennec foxes, cape porcupines, squirrel monkeys, wallabies, and rock hyraxes. Do any of these names ring a bell? There’s nothing to fear if not. Animal Wonder World has carved out a space just for these unique creatures. While you’re there, you can also get a look at some familiar favorites like kangaroos, sloths, owls, and flamingos, and just nearby you can see tigers and penguins out having a good time.
Take a step deeper into the animal kingdom with an amphibian boat adventure in the Lost Valley. Here, 29 different animal species roam freely in an environment recreated to match their original habitat. You’ll also get to see a rare peaceful coexistence between enemies like cheetahs and rhinoceroses. In some areas, children can get close enough to feed the animals through open windows and gain a better understanding of how they move around and interact with each other.
A day with animals is never complete without a grand safari tour. Children will get to meet their storybook favorites like lions, tigers, brown bears, and hyenas. Safari guides will be onboard the tour buses to offer detailed explanations throughout the journey and answer questions that any curious young minds might have.
From exhilarating rides that up the thrills to adventures in the animal kingdom, Everland has an impressive lineup that will captivate young children and accompanying adults. Be sure to plan ahead to maximize the experience outdoors and give kids the time of their lives.
