Juun.J’s Canada Goose collaboration
launches in time for winter
The anticipated collaboration between avant-garde Korean fashion label Juun.J and winter favorite Canada Goose has arrived.
Already renowned for its reinterpretation of traditional outerwear, Samsung C&T Fashion Group brand Juun.J first unveiled pieces from the Canada Goose collaboration while showing its Fall-Winter 2019 collection in Paris last January. With the new cold season almost here, Juun.J and Canada Goose commercially launched four products on Oct. 18. Among them, the Snow Mantra Parka received a particularly warm welcome as it sold out as soon as it was released.
Staying warm without losing cool
The collaboration has produced a unisex line of outerwear and knitwear, which combines the minimalist and street looks that Juun.J is famous for with Canada Goose’s reputation for technical functionality and heritage colors.
Three parkas are included in the collection – all iconic Canada Goose models that have been reworked as Juun.J versions with exaggerated proportions. They include the standout Resolute 3-in-1 Parka, which features a down-filled shell and vest that can be worn together or separately, as well as a hood that may be stowed if desired. This parka, available in black, can be adjusted with drawcords for a more personal fit.
The other two coats are the Snow Mantra Parka, which also comes in black, and the Expedition Parka, which is available in both black and red.
Meanwhile, the Ashcroft Hoody is the first example of Canada Goose collaborating with a partner on knitwear. Like the parkas, it synthesizes Juun.J’s aesthetic with Canada Goose’s technical attributes. Available in black and military green, the Ashcroft Hoody features an Ultra Fine Merino Wool body and a nylon hood and shoulders to increase durability, along with Canada Goose’s thermal mapping technology.
Global and millennial
The Juun.J x Canada Goose collaboration is expected to be especially popular among younger people throughout the world. Kim Jae-soo, head of Juun.J, noted Canada Goose is a brand that “millennials all around the world like.”
“Canada Goose and Juun.J have collaborated to launch must-have items that will heat up this fall/winter season,” Kim added. “They will remain the best collaboration as they keep the design of Canada Goose and express the identity of Juun.J in a sophisticated manner.”
The four items were first showcased at Juun.J’s Dosan flagship store in Seoul and are on sale at major department stores around the world as well as at ssfshop.com, Samsung C&T Fashion Group’s online shopping mall.
Juun.J operates in about 100 stores across 30 countries, including locations in New York, London, Paris, Milan and Hong Kong. It is expanding its global business by opening stores in high-class department stores such as Harrods (London), SAKS (New York), and Galeries Lafayette (Paris), and select shops L’Eclaireur (Paris), Joyce (Hong Kong & China) and Opening Ceremony (Tokyo).
