Everland, operated by Samsung C&T’s Resort Group, is introducing the “Whatever Series,” a new monthly program that spotlights a different theme each month based on seasonal moments and everyday favorites. Unlike Everland’s large-scale seasonal festivals such as the Tulip or Rose Festivals, the Whatever Series focuses on a single theme for one month at a time, offering concentrated, limited-period experiences.
The resort is starting the new year with the warm aroma of bungeoppang, one of Korea’s most beloved winter street snacks, as it launches “Bungeoppang Rush,” a special January event filled with themed food, interactive experiences, and playful storytelling across the park.
A Whimsical Story That Begins in a Capybara’s Dream
“Bungeoppang Rush” unfolds through a playful narrative in which a capybara, sleeping in a warm winter hideaway, dreams of a world where bungeoppang rains from the sky. Guided by this lighthearted storyline, visitors can explore a variety of themed attractions, food offerings, and participatory programs spread throughout the park.
At the heart of the experience is food. As the main character of the event, the fish-shaped pastry appears in an unusually wide range of variations, forming what Everland playfully describes as a “bungmakase,” a playful blend of bungeoppang and omakase, a term used for chef-curated tasting courses. . In addition to the red bean fish-shaped pastry, visitors can choose from custard-filled versions, pizza-style variations, and creative combinations such as pairing the hot pastry with ice cream, offering an unexpected contrast of temperatures and textures. In total, more than ten varieties are available.
Complementing the lineup, Everland is also operating a hot food street featuring other winter favorites such as peanut bread, grilled rice cakes, fish cake cups, and roasted sweet potatoes, allowing visitors to enjoy a full Korean winter snack experience in one place.
On-Site Experiences, Merchandise, and Interactive Programs
Various hands-on activities are also available for visitors of all ages. At the Global Fair area near the main entrance and at the entrance to the Alpine Village, a four-meter-tall photo spot featuring Everland’s character Lenny holding an oversized bungeoppang, creating a seasonal backdrop for winter memories.
In the Alpine area, a bagel-themed character appears twice daily for photo sessions with visitors. Nearby, at the Alps Shop and Laciun Memorium store offer themed merchandise, including a bungeoppang big-head hat that has already gained attention on social media. Visitors can also use photo kiosks with special bungeoppang-themed frames to capture unique keepsakes from their visit.
A magnetic fishing experience zone has also been set up in the Alpine Village. Visitors who successfully catch a fish magnet can exchange it at a designated exchange booth and receive special Lenny & Friends bungeoppang–themed stickers , turning a simple activity into a collectible reward.
Animal Encounters, Guest Participation, and Seasonal Highlights
The capybara featured in the event’s storyline can be seen in real life at Zootopia Ppuppa Town, where daily Animal Talk sessions introduce visitors to the capybara’s natural behaviors, including its fondness for warm baths during winter. Nearby, visitors can scan QR codes while spotting golden carp in the water to participate in a roulette event, with cotton candy offered as a prize.
Visitors can also access additional benefits through the Everland app, including limited-time participation events and ticket discounts for children. Special on-site promotions are available for families visiting together, with select guests eligible for all-day admission tickets at a discounted price during the event period.
To mark the launch of the event, Everland also released a short teaser video on its social media channels, offering a playful preview of the “Bungeoppang Rush” concept and winter atmosphere across the park.
