Each type of hanbok carries with it its own aesthetic uniqueness, and these different styles each represent a different usage \u2013 as developed throughout its illustrious history. Brighter colors of hanbok were reserved for special occasions, and only the royal family could wear clothing with gold leaf patterns on the bottom of their\u00a0chima<\/em>, or skirt.
