Earlier this year, Samsung C&amp;T won construction contracts for a range of projects including two new metro stations (the T-313 Project) and a new state courthouse.<\/p><p>C&amp;T\u2019s APRO decided to create this forum to address building safety concerns in light of the fact that the construction industry in Singapore has suffered 50 workplace fatalities so far in 2016. C&amp;T, meanwhile, is on target in its quest to achieve zero workplace fatalities. The company is striving to attain this goal by engaging with the supply chain in partnership with Singapore\u2019s government agencies to ensure the prevention of construction-related casualties.<\/p><p>In addition to C&amp;T construction managers, a number of the company\u2019s most important safety representatives were also present. Jon Eades, C&amp;T\u2019s Quality, Health, Safety &amp; Environment General Manager for the APAC region, made a speech about the importance of taking care of workers\u2019 safety.This was followed by APRO\u2019s Project Director, Stuart Matthews, who gave a presentation entitled \u201cSafety &#8211; The Role of Senior Management and Walking the Talk.\u201d<\/p><p>Another important part of the forum saw Samsung C&amp;T hand out a selection of awards to its supply partners to acknowledge their strong on-site safety performance.<\/p><p>Attendees were keen on what they saw. One client said, \u201cI was particularly impressed with Samsung C&amp;T\u2019s initiative in organizing this event. I believe the safety message was successfully and clearly transmitted.\u201d<\/p><p>On a related note, Samsung C&amp;T\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.samsungcnt.com\/en\/samsung-ct-wins-top-award-at-singapore-safety-awards-event\/\">won the top prize at Singapore\u2019s Land Transport Authority\u2019s Annual Safety Award Convention<\/a>\u00a0(ASAC) on September 21, the second time it has received this prestigious title.
