In Korea, experts expect 1.4 million air purifiers to be sold this year alone.<\/p><p>The journey has led IT pioneers to some innovative discoveries, including\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/reason.com\/blog\/2017\/03\/24\/6-cool-innovations-that-are-making-the-w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">molecular-level biotech solutions<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.citylab.com\/tech\/2016\/03\/the-innovative-ways-people-are-recycling-air-pollution\/471999\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">advanced recycling initiatives<\/a>\u00a0and even\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/business\/news\/ford-china-electric-car-plug-in-beijing-smog-air-pollution-rules-petrol-gas-hybrid-vehicle-a7669696.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plug-in electronic vehicles<\/a>.<\/p><p>Innovations like these cost a lot of money, however. Typical HVAC systems contain air handling units that filter and purify outside air, releasing it in buildings through ventilation shafts and ducts.<\/p><p>That said, experts say traditional HVAC air purification technology still have a long way to go. In 2013, independent testers commissioned by American watchdog\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.consumersdigest.com\/home\/article\/whole-house-air-purifiers-efficiency-report\/P2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Consumers Digest<\/a>\u00a0found \u201cwhole-house air purifiers that claim an efficiency of 90-95 percent in capturing harmful particles are closer to a capture efficiency of 80-85 percent.\u201d<\/p><p>Although traditional HVAC systems are still useful, some constructors are now looking at ways to incorporate IT-based innovation into their residential projects. The system monitors indoor air quality and ventilates accordingly. Samsung C&amp;T designers are thus looking to address this with a ventilation device built in to apartment kitchen range hoods. These innovations automatically sense pollution and activate filtering devices when harmful particles are in the air.<\/p><p>What is more, the group is also developing \u201cair shower\u201d systems that residents can use to remove harmful particles from their clothes before entering their apartment buildings.
