Celebrating Juun.J\u2019s 10th Birthday at Paris Men\u2019s Fashion Week<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Since debuting his namesake label in 2007, designer Juun.J has been pushing the boundaries of menswear, gaining legions of fans worldwide that includes celebrities such as Kanye West, Rihanna and Drake.<\/p>

A decade after the label\u2019s critically acclaimed debut,\u00a0Juun.J celebrated its 10th anniversary at Paris Men\u2019s Fashion Week by unveiling the \u201cArchive\u201d collection<\/a>. Drawing on past collections, the designer reworked some of the label\u2019s most iconic pieces for the F\/W \u201917 show, while also breaking new ground by including 11 female modes in the lineup to bring to life his \u201cgenderless\u201d design philosophy.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Being headquartered in South Korea, a global technological innovation hub, Samsung C&T has always sought exciting ways to use the latest technologies.<\/p>

In 2017, the company expanded the boundaries of theme park entertainment by literally taking visitors to another dimension. Everland, South Korea\u2019s largest theme park, turbo-boosted many of its rides using the latest Virtual Reality (VR) technology. Over 100,000 visitors rode\u00a0Robot VR<\/a>\u00a0after it opened for just 6 months, while\u00a0Gyro VR<\/a>\u00a0and Haunted House VR gave many an unforgettable adrenaline rush.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Opening the First Korean Built Power Plant in Chile<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After nearly 3 years of construction,\u00a0the Kelar Power Plant in Chile was successfully completed on May 26th<\/a>.<\/p>

Located in the port city of Antofagasta, Northern Chile, the power plant was constructed by Samsung C&T and KOSPO (Korean Southern Power Co., Ltd). Its completion was a significant milestone as the facility is the first private power plant constructed and operated by Korean companies in the country.<\/p>

The 517 MW gas-fired combined-cycle power plant supplies energy to BHP Billiton\u2019s copper mines in the region. It\u2019s also expected to replace coal-based power generation in Chile, offsetting up to 1.5 million tons of CO2 emissions per year.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Winning the Annual HSE Performance Excellence Award for Worksite Safety<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Onsite safety is a value Samsung C&T brings to all its construction projects. And no project represents this commitment better than the liquified natural gas (LNG) terminal in Pengerang, Malaysia.<\/p>

Dubbed RGT-2, Samsung C&T was contracted by Malaysian oil and gas giant Petronas to build the sprawling LNG terminal in just 27 months \u2013 a considerable feat for a project of this scale. Even in the face of such a tight timeframe, the company has not neglected workers\u2019 well-being. From novel construction methods to engaging drills, Samsung C&T adopted a holistic approach to ensure safety at the construction site is maintained at the highest level.<\/p>

Samsung C&T\u2019s forward-thinking approach to safety has set an example for others in the industry to follow, as\u00a0the project secured the annual HSE (health, safety, and environment) Performance Excellence Award from Petronas on October 12<\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Completing One of the World\u2019s Greatest Infrastructure Projects<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

As the clocks struck midnight on October 14th, the Mayor of Halton\u2019s car became the first ever vehicle to cross\u00a0the Samsung C&T-built Mersey Gateway<\/a>. Seven years in the making, the opening of the six-lane bridge marked a new chapter of river crossing in the Wirral Peninsular.<\/p>

Recognized by KPMG as one of the \u201cTop 100 infrastructure projects around the globe\u201d,\u00a0the Mersey Gateway will reduce 80% of traffic on the Silver Jubilee Bridge, while significantly cut down travelling time for millions of commuters.<\/a>\u00a0On top of all that, the project is also expected to greatly stimulate economic development in the region.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Giving back to communities is a principle which Samsung C&T firmly believes in. That\u2019s why the company has engaged in numerous corporate social responsibility projects over the years with the aim of sharing the profits of growth and supporting the next generation. Guardians of Hope, a project run by volunteers at the company\u2019s Caribbean Bay water park, captures this principle precisely.<\/p>

Over the past year, 23 lifeguards at the water park have been providing vital underwater rehabilitation to handicapped children weekly. The volunteers helped the children relax and play in the water park\u2019s facilities, giving them opportunities to overcome physical and psychological difficulties.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Climate change is at the top of the global agenda. As energy consumption rises around the world, finding ways to store energy is just as important as developing renewable energy sources.<\/p>

Samsung C&T\u2019s smart energy storage project in Summerside, Canada<\/a>\u00a0is one of the company\u2019s many contributions to building a greener future. The centerpiece of the project is an\u00a0innovative battery network connected to\u00a0a solar farm, which can store and distribute 890kWh of energy. By storing solar power for long-term usage, the project will allow the city to move towards greater reliance on clean energy.<\/p>

Aside from Summerside project,\u00a0Samsung C&T has also engaged in numerous renewable energy projects around the world<\/a>, including\u00a0wind and solar farms in Ontario<\/a>, as well as a fuel cell power plant in Busan, South Korea.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To say 2017 was an extraordinary year for Korean golf player Sung-hyun Park would be an understatement.<\/p>

Since debuting at the LPGA this year, the 23-year-old super rookie has won the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year, the Rolex Player of the Year and money title in one season. She is only the second rookie to accomplish such astonishing achievements after Nancy Lopez in 1978.<\/p>

Training Our Guide Dog School\u2019s 200th Graduate<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A special friendship was born when visually impaired university student Eun-san Cho met Se-um, his new canine companion. Not only will Se-um provide Cho with plenty of joy, but as a guide dog, he will also help the visually impaired student lead an independent life.<\/p>

Se-um was the 200th<\/sup>\u00a0graduate of Korea\u2019s\u00a0largest guide dog training center<\/a>, which is run by Samsung C&T in collaboration with Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance in the grounds of Everland. Since 1993, the facility has been preparing guide dogs to serve the visually impaired. Se-um was one of the 11 guide dogs that were presented to their new owners at a special ceremony on 13th November.
