Samsung C&T Granted 1,760 MW CCGP Project in Indonesia

Samsung C&T Corporation has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build a 1,760MW combined cycle power plant by PT Jawa Satu Power in Indonesia.  The $1 billion project, located in Cilamaya, will be developed by PT Jawa Satu Power, a consortium of PT Pertamina (Persero), Marubeni Corporation, and Sojitz Corporation.  Samsung C&T will form a consortium agreement with General Electric (GE) Power and PT. Meindo Elang Indah (Meindo), and its portion will be worth more than half of the whole EPC contract price.

The Jawa 1 power plant is part of the government’s 35,000 MW electrification program, and is expected to be the biggest combined cycle power plant in Southeast Asia. Upon its completion, the plant will supply electricity to approximately 11 million homes.

“We are very pleased to take part in the Jawa 1 power plant project, which will contribute to energy development in Indonesia. Based on Samsung C&T’s core values of quality and safety, we look forward to delivering a successful project together with our partners” said Sechul Oh, Head of Samsung C&T’s Plant Business Unit.

Samsung C&T has successfully completed various power plant projects around the world, including Muara Tawar power plant in Indonesia, Dongducheon CCPP and Kumho CHP-S1 projects in Korea, EMAL Phase2 CCPP and Shuweihat 2 CCPP in the UAE. Samsung C&T will continue to work with its partners to successfully deliver projects across the region and prosper together with the local communities we serve.
