What adds to the experience is the chance for kids to get acquainted with the lesser panda, also known as the red panda for its color. These mammals are native to China, areas surrounding the Himalayas, and Myanmar, and are much smaller in size, hence, the name “lesser” panda. They actually have a lot in common with the giant panda, with their love for eating stalks of bamboo and sixth “finger” on each of their front paws. Lesser pandas also eat eggs, small birds, and roots, and are known to be introverts, more active from dusk to dawn.
