The Samsung C&T E&C Group has once again demonstrated its commitment to innovative design, winning its fourth consecutive iF Design Award with a collection of bags, wallets, and pouches made using upcycled waste from construction sites. This award affirms Samsung C&T E&C Group’s design leadership and commitment to sustainability and minimizing waste at its construction sites.
What is the iF Design Award?
The iF Design Award, established in 1953 by Germany’s International Forum Design, is one of the top three prestigious global design awards, alongside the Red Dot Design Award (Germany) and IDEA (U.S.).
This year’s awards attracted approximately 10,000 entries from 66 countries, with winners selected across nine categories, including Product, Interior, Architecture, and User Experience, based on design innovation, aesthetics, and sustainability criteria.
Turning Vital Construction Waste into Everyday Essentials
The award-winning Raemian upcycled collection consists of a bag, pouch, and card wallet made from discarded vertical safety netting used on Raemian apartment construction sites. Vertical safety nets are crucial materials used on construction sites to prevent debris from falling onto surrounding areas.
The beauty of upcycling materials that would otherwise be discarded gives the material a new purpose. What was once a vital part of a construction site can now become an essential daily item in a person’s life.

The collection integrates sustainability with the brand’s identity and is designed in Raemian’s signature green and gray color scheme. This gives customers a strong connection to the brand’s values and the origins of the upcycled materials.
Judges of the iF Design Award rated the collection’s creativity and environmental impact highly, helping the Samsung C&T E&C Group secure its place among this year’s iF Design Award winners in the Product category.
