Pulling Back the Layers of Anggae’s Debut Collection

Introducing ‘Anggae’, the latest women’s clothing brand to join the Samsung C&T Fashion family. The brand’s signature layered shapes and sensual forms use form-hugging and unstructured fabrics to emulate their philosophy of “revelation through concealment.”

Anggae’s debut fashion collection styled on a model in three ways; the first outfit features a light grey mock-neck jersey top paired with a shirred pale blue satin skirt and a satin bag with gathered detailing. The model in the center wears a scoop neck green knit top paired with a layered linen skirt in the same color. The third model wears a matching top and skirt made from jersey material that hugs the body and creates a gathered detail effect.

The Samsung C&T Fashion Group has welcomed a new brand to its portfolio this season with the launch of ‘Anggae.’ Anggae is a contemporary women’s fashion brand that caters to young consumers looking for new, unique, and feminine silhouettes.

Anggae is in excellent company, joining Juun.J, Kuho, The Aperture, and LEBEIGE in the Samsung C&T Fashion Group’s lineup of sophisticated clothing brands for women. The brand distinguishes itself as being an inclusive and unconventional label, giving consumers the confidence and freedom to look and feel their best without compromise.

Anggae’s debut collections offer customers sensual and feminine shapes with figure-hugging fabrics and soft, layered designs. These are contrasted with garments made from textured crinkled fabrics that conceal the shape of the body and can be layered in endless combinations.

Layers Upon Layers

A recurring theme in Anggae’s debut collections is layered looks. Pieces that can be layered include skirts worn over trousers and contoured dresses that can be paired with accessories that accentuate the waistline.

The contrast between a mini satin shirred skirt worn over a wide-leg jean creates exciting shapes and textures. The brand’s ‘Cho Chou’ wrap satin mini skirt with shirred detailing at the waist and a ribbon tie on the side can be layered over jeans or loose trousers for an interesting balletcore look.

Layering skirts and dresses over trousers creates a dichotomy between masculine and feminine silhouettes. The collection’s versatility invites Anggae’s customers to mix and reinterpret pieces uniquely, offering endless styling possibilities.

Sultry Silhouettes: Draped Fabrics and Crinkled Textures

Many of the pieces in Anggae’s debut collections feature jersey materials that contour to the shape of the body, elegant knit materials that add texture, and asymmetric forms. The draped and crinkled motifs offer unique forms and shapes that hide the body in some areas and accentuate them in others.

Anggae’s signature Gelato fabric with a glossy appearance and a crinkled texture is a recurring textile used in the collection and starkly contrasts the drapey, soft lines from other pieces. The deep magenta two-piece matching set features a pencil skirt and collarless button-up shirt and are a fresh take on wardrobe staples for transitional weather.

Looking to Installation Art for Inspiration

Anggae has cited the wrapped works of artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude as their design inspiration. The duo famously created large-scale artworks by wrapping large architectural and natural elements in fabric. Anggae draws inspiration from these artworks with its use of unstructured fabrics that naturally hug the body, evoking its philosophy “revelation through concealment.”

The beauty of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s environmental installations is in the simplicity of wrapping familiar landmarks in everyday materials. The outline of the landmarks remains visible, while the details are obscured, prompting viewers to reconsider and reinterpret their surroundings based on memory. The installations invite contemplation and celebrate the beauty of our natural and man-made world.

Some of the duo’s iconic works include wrapping Paris’ Arc de Triomphe in 25,000 square meters of fabric and 7,000 meters of rope in 2021 and wrapping Sydney’s coastline in 90,000 square meters of plastic fabric in 1969.

Subtle Hints of Color

Anggae’s signature colors include neutral beiges, navy blue, and black, with hints of magenta, deep red, and soft pink that offer subtle bursts of color. The simple colors and bolder tones invite the flexibility to style contrasting colors together for layered looks or to let the pieces shine on their own. Anggae cleverly offer a seasonless color palette on items that can be worn as single layers in warmer weather or layered with warmer fabrics to make it through the cooler months.

The Anggae brand philosophy champions inclusivity and diversity, as seen through its range of neutral forms, colors, and fabrics. A new generation of customers can embrace the freedom Anggae offers them to feel comfortable in their clothing and express themselves through their styling.

Anggae’s Global Launch

Anggae simultaneously launched in June 2024 in South Korea, the U.S., Japan, and China. The Samsung C&T Fashion Group is thrilled for Anggae’s future as part of its portfolio and hopes that the brand will continue to evolve to bring innovative designs that appeal to trend-centric millennial and Gen Z customers. We are excited to see the Anggae brand evolve and look forward to more expressive looks that encompass the brand’s vision of “revelation through concealment.”
