On August 12, visitors to Everland’s Panda World witnessed a poignant moment as twin panda sisters Rui Bao and Hui Bao spent their last public day alongside their mother, Ai Bao. Born in 2023 as Korea’s first giant panda twins, the playful duo has grown up under the watchful care of their mother, charming guests with their close-knit bond.

Starting August 13, that bond will take a new shape as the sisters begin life apart from their mother, stepping into their next chapter of independence.

Preparing for Independence

In the wild, giant pandas typically leave their mothers between 18 months and 2 years of age. Following this natural cycle, Rui Bao and Hui Bao have been gradually adjusting to time apart through a series of “independence training” sessions over recent months. These sessions allowed the sisters to become more self-reliant while still enjoying moments of play together.

From August 13 onward, Panda World will introduce a split viewing schedule: Ai Bao will greet visitors in the morning, while Rui Bao and Hui Bao will take the stage in the afternoon. This arrangement will continue until the twins settle into their new home.

Looking Back at July’s Birthday Celebrations

Just one month ago, Rui Bao and Hui Bao marked another milestone—their second birthday on July 7. The celebration, held at Panda World, brought together keepers, fans, and a giant bamboo cake crafted especially for the twins. The event also carried special meaning as it was the last birthday they would share with their mother before independence.

Over the past two years, the sisters have grown from tiny cubs weighing less than 200 grams each to healthy juveniles of around 70 kilograms. To commemorate the day, Everland gifted them custom employee badges engraved with their names and faces, alongside matching plush toys and keyrings available at the Panda World gift shop.

July was a festive month for the whole panda family, with Ai Bao, big sister Fu Bao, and father Le Bao all celebrating birthdays. Everland hosted a “Happy Bao’s Day” program filled with themed games, café treats, and online events, giving fans even more ways to join in the celebrations.

A New Home Awaits

In September, Everland will open the Panda Second House, a newly built space designed specifically for Rui Bao and Hui Bao. Once they complete their adaptation period, the twins will be on display all day, giving fans more opportunities to see their unique personalities shine. The new facility promises both indoor and outdoor enclosures to keep the sisters active and comfortable year-round.

As the Bao family turns the page, Everland invites guests to cherish these last glimpses of the trio together before Rui Bao and Hui Bao officially begin their solo adventures.
