On October 3, Samsung C&T Resort Group’s Everland opened the Panda Second House beside Panda World, unveiling a dedicated home for Rui Bao and Hui Bao. Born in 2023 as Korea’s first twin pandas, the new home was created after more than a year of planning to support their transition into independent life.

Like pandas in the wild, who typically separate from their mothers between 18 months and 2 years of age, the sisters had been living apart from their mother Ai Bao since mid-August. Previously, Panda World operated on a split schedule, alternating between the mother and her twins. With the addition of the Panda Second House, visitors could now spend the entire day with the Bao family—meeting Rui Bao and Hui Bao in their new home while Ai Bao and father Le Bao remained at Panda World.

Since September 19, the twins had been adapting to the new space under the close care of their keepers, including Cheol-won Kang and Young-gwan Song, before their official public debut.

Designed for independence

Built on a 1,200㎡ site, the Panda Second House included indoor and outdoor enclosures as well as private resting quarters. The indoor space, designed with floor-to-ceiling glass for openness, included bamboo, grass, natural rocks, and a pond. The outdoor viewing area was landscaped with shelters for sunbathing, along with large trees such as zelkova and oak to encourage climbing and play.

Since September 19, the sisters had been adapting to the space under the close care of keepers Cheol-won Kang and Young-gwan Song before greeting the public during the Chuseok holiday.

Opening Day Celebrations

Everland marked the debut with special events. On October 3, the first 3,000 guests to visit received personalized “Friend Cards” engraved with their names, while fans left handwritten messages cheering on the twins.

More than 60 new panda-themed goods also launched, including keyrings, mirrors, and blankets, alongside the popular staff-badge plush dolls released for the twins’ second birthday in July. At Panda World Café, visitors enjoyed a limited “Rui & Hui Set” from October 1 to 12, which featured rice cakes, drinks, and collectible panda pin badges. Each day offered a different design, with all 12 forming a hidden message of support when collected together.

Everland invited guests to cherish the Bao family’s new chapter, with Rui Bao and Hui Bao beginning their independent journeys while Ai Bao and Le Bao continued to greet visitors at Panda World.

Visitors who sign up on the Visit Korea website will receive a 35% discount coupon redeemable at the Everland main gate ticket office.
