Canadian Ambassador to Korea Philippe Lafortune and Québec Government Representative in Korea Damien Pereira visited Everland on April 9 to attend Wings of Memory, a newly introduced circus performance co-produced with Canadian circus company Cirque Éloize.
The visit followed the recent debut of Wings of Memory, which launched on April 1 as part of Everland’s spring entertainment lineup.
A New International Circus Production at Everland
Wings of Memory is a 40-minute theatrical circus performance presented at Everland’s Grand Stage, an indoor venue with approximately 1,000 seats. The production combines acrobatics, dance, video, music, and special effects to create an immersive performance experience.
Seven advanced circus disciplines are featured throughout the show, including contortion, aerial pole, Russian swing, Icarian games, fire performance, trickline, and trapeze. More than 20 artists take part in the performance, supported by an international creative team that collaborated on the production over approximately 18 months.
The story follows a protagonist named El, who enters a magical world guided by a mysterious swan and spirit. Stage elements such as a flying swan puppet, moving boat, projection mapping, and atmospheric effects enhance the theatrical experience.
Since its debut, the performance has been held twice daily at Everland.
Collaboration with Cirque Éloize
Cirque Éloize, based in Québec, Canada, has more than 30 years of experience and has performed over 7,000 times across approximately 700 cities in 50 countries.
Alongside Cirque du Soleil and The 7 Fingers, Cirque Éloize is recognized as one of Canada’s leading circus production companies.
The collaboration between Everland and Cirque Éloize was facilitated by the Québec Government Office in Korea, which has maintained long-standing ties with Everland.
Marking Cultural Exchange
During the visit, Ambassador Lafortune and the delegation attended the performance and met with performers afterward.
Ambassador Lafortune noted that it was meaningful to see Canadian circus artistry presented at a major theme park in Korea and expressed hope that the collaboration would further support cultural exchange between the two countries.
Damien Pereira, Québec Government Representative in Korea, also highlighted that this year marks the 35th anniversary of Québec’s presence in Korea. He noted that the joint production between Everland and Cirque Éloize represents a meaningful collaboration that brings together different cultures.
