Clothing plays an important role in daily routines, from work and social activities to personal expression. Through Heartist (@heartist.samsungfashion), Samsung C&T Fashion Group has continued to explore how thoughtful design can make everyday fashion more comfortable, functional, and accessible.

In April, Samsung C&T Fashion Group donated Heartist business casual clothing to 100 people with disabilities, marking the first donation since the brand shifted from a sales-based model to a regular donation initiative. A total of 300 pieces were provided, with each recipient receiving one complete outfit set consisting of outerwear, a top, and bottoms. The Group plans to recruit recipients for the second-half donation program with the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities and the Korea Spinal Cord Injury Association in June.

Heartist is Samsung C&T Fashion Group’s representative CSR brand, created from the words “Heart” and “Artist.” The name reflects the idea of artists with warm hearts listening to the world around them and creating meaningful value through fashion.

Launched on April 20, 2019, Korea’s Day of Persons with Disabilities, Heartist was introduced under the motto “Fashion for All Abilities.” The brand was developed to expand access to fashion through clothing that considers both design and function, with a focus on people with disabilities.

From Functional Fashion to Regular Donations

Before its launch, Heartist carried out research on clothing for people with disabilities through collaboration with rehabilitation medicine specialists and the Korea Differently Abled Federation. Wearability tests were also conducted with wheelchair users, allowing their feedback to be reflected in the brand’s patterns, fit, design, and details.

The brand incorporates details specifically designed for wheelchair users, taking their movements and body structure into consideration. This approach reflects Heartist’s focus on creating pieces that consider movement, comfort, and style together.

Until last year, Heartist sold its products through Samsung C&T Fashion Group’s online shopping platform SSF Shop. In December 2025, Samsung C&T Fashion Group announced that from 2026, Heartist would move away from its previous sales format and operate as a regular donation initiative.

To provide more practical support for people with disabilities in their social activities, Samsung C&T Fashion Group signed business agreements with the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities and the Korea Spinal Cord Injury Association. Through these partnerships, recipients are selected based on actual clothing needs.

Clothing Designed Around Everyday Movement

For the first-half donation program, the donated items were designed as business casual pieces that combine classic, refined styling with functional details for wheelchair users.

The clothing includes features designed to support comfort and movement in daily life, including a fit optimized for seated posture, action bands that allow easier movement, long zippers, and Velcro closures that make dressing and undressing more convenient.

These details continue Heartist’s approach to fashion that considers how clothing looks, feels, and functions throughout the day.

Reflecting Recipient Feedback

In May, Samsung C&T Fashion Group conducted a satisfaction survey with the 100 first-half recipients through the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities and the Korea Spinal Cord Injury Association. The feedback collected from the survey will be reflected in future clothing planning.

Daeyoung Yoon, a disability awareness instructor in his 30s and one of the first-half recipients, shared his experience with the clothing.

“The jeans I received are not only comfortable for wheelchair users, but also easy to put on and take off by myself, so I am very satisfied,” said Yoon. “I hope Samsung C&T Fashion Group’s support will help create more diverse fashion choices for people with disabilities.”

Expanding Fashion for Every Possibility

Samsung C&T Fashion Group plans to recruit recipients for the second-half clothing donation program in June through the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities and the Korea Spinal Cord Injury Association. As with the first-half program, 100 people with disabilities will each receive one self-developed business casual outfit set free of charge.

“Most of the first-half recipients said they would recommend participating in the Heartist program to people around them,” said Jeongwon Shin, Head of the CSR Group at Samsung C&T Fashion Group. “Based on Heartist’s philosophy of ‘fashion for every possibility,’ we hope this initiative will help create an environment that supports the social participation of people with disabilities.”

Through Heartist, Samsung C&T Fashion Group continues to connect thoughtful design with practical support, bringing functional fashion closer to everyday life.
