The youngest member of Everland’s beloved Bao family is growing quickly and now she is ready for one very important milestone: a name of her own.

Everland, operated by Samsung C&T Resort Group, has opened a public vote to choose the name of the female baby panda born at Panda World earlier this summer. Online and offline voting will run from August 18 through August 30, giving panda fans the chance to take part in naming the newest addition to Korea’s only giant panda family. The response has already been overwhelming, with more than 100,000 people joining the vote within just six days of its launch.

The baby panda was 77 days old when voting began on August 18. She is the fourth cub born to mother Ai Bao and father Le Bao, following Fu Bao in 2020 and twin sisters Rui Bao and Hui Bao in 2023.

Five Finalists for Everland’s Youngest Bao

Interest in naming the newest member of the Bao family has continued to grow. During the first round held through Everland’s online channels in July, more than 10,000 comments were submitted with name suggestions for the baby panda.

A naming committee made up of zookeepers, veterinarians, and employees from related departments reviewed the submissions based on their meaning, pronunciation, and suitability for the baby panda, narrowing them down to five finalists.

Since the final vote opened on August 18, more than 100,000 people have participated in just six days, showing just how much excitement surrounds the youngest Bao’s soon-to-be-chosen name.

Following the Bao (宝) naming tradition shared by the panda family, the five finalists are:

  • Ju Bao () — a treasure to be cherished and loved like a pearl or precious jewel
  • Jun Bao () — an outstanding and admirable treasure
  • Lin Bao () — a precious treasure like beautiful jade
  • You Bao () — a treasure watched over by everyone and blessed with protection
  • Shu Bao () — a bright treasure like the light of dawn

Anyone can participate in the final vote through the Everland app or in person at Panda World through August 30. The winning name is scheduled to be announced in September, when the baby panda celebrates her 100th day.

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Korea is also holding the baby panda naming vote through its social media channels.

Panda Fans Get the Final Say

Everland has also prepared a special lineup of prizes for those taking part in the online voting event.

A total of 21 participants will be selected to receive prizes including a trip to a panda base in China, an invitation to the baby panda’s 100-day celebration, special merchandise featuring the baby panda’s paw print, and Everland admission tickets.

The event gives panda fans another opportunity to share in the baby panda’s early milestones, following the enthusiastic response to her birth and the first-round naming campaign.

The Bao Family’s Youngest Member Is Growing Fast

Born at 10:53 a.m. on June 3 to Ai Bao and Le Bao, the newest cub is the fourth female giant panda to be born in Korea, following her older sisters Fu Bao, Rui Bao, and Hui Bao.

She weighed just 171 grams at birth. During a recent health examination after passing the two-month mark, she weighed approximately 3.7 kilograms — more than 20 times her birth weight — and is continuing to grow healthily under the care of Everland’s specialists.

Fans can continue following the baby panda’s growth through Everland’s official channels, including the Everland YouTube channel, PPUPPA tv : animal world YouTube channel, Everland’s blog, and the Zootopia Naver Cafe.

An Everland official said, “Fans and zookeepers are coming together in this meaningful process of giving the baby panda a precious name that will stay with her throughout her life. We hope everyone will continue sending their warm support so that the youngest member of the panda family can grow up healthy, surrounded by love and blessings.”

With five names now in the running, the next chapter in the youngest Bao family member’s story is in the hands of panda fans.
