Spouses and children from 12 foreign embassies in Korea recently visited Everland to celebrate spring at its annual Tulip Festival. Surrounded by over 1.2 million vibrant blooms, the guests explored Korean garden traditions through a guided tour and a bonsai-making workshop, deepening cultural ties in a setting full of color and connection.

Everland recently welcomed 33 guests from the families of diplomats representing Australia, Colombia, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, Spain, and Ukraine. The visit aimed to deepen cultural exchange and offer a firsthand look at Korea’s rich seasonal traditions.
At the heart of the day was Everland’s Tulip Festival, a seasonal tradition that transforms the theme park’s Four Seasons Garden into a vibrant sea of spring blossoms. This year’s festival features over 1.2 million tulips, daffodils, muscari, and more, arranged in stunning patterns across themed displays. Everland’s Tulip Festival is happening now and will run until June 15.
The gathering was coordinated by Mrs. Joanne Mitchell van der Plas, spouse of the Dutch Ambassador to Korea, who invited fellow diplomatic families to take part in the festival’s floral celebration.
A Guided Stroll Through Blossoms and Traditions
The visit began with a gentle walk through Everland’s Four Seasons Garden and Sky Garden Path, where over 700 blooming plum trees and vibrant floral displays created a vivid, living canvas. As they strolled through the colorful landscape, guests mingled with local visitors, soaked in the fragrances of spring, and posed for photos along the way—immersing themselves in both nature and Korean seasonal culture.
At the heart of the experience was Everland’s Garden Pass program, a curated cultural journey that introduced guests to the aesthetics and values of Korean gardening. The group was led by Jun-kyu Lee, Everland’s Plant Content Director, whose lighthearted storytelling and expert insights gave deeper meaning to each blossom and pathway.
With over 150,000 visitors attending the Tulip Festival in just its first nine days, the event offered a joyful and welcoming atmosphere—serving as the perfect backdrop for cross-cultural exchange and connection.
Bonsai-Making: A Hands-On Connection
Following the tour, the guests participated in a bonsai-making workshop, a beloved highlight of the Garden Pass experience. A bonsai is a small tree that is grown in a pot that must be taken care of with delicate pruning. Seated around long wooden tables and equipped with gloves and tools, both adults and children shaped small potted trees under the guidance of Everland’s horticulture team.
It was a moment of calm creativity—some focused quietly, others laughed and chatted, all deeply engaged in the delicate art of bonsai. For many, it was their first time working with live plants in such an intimate way, making the experience all the more memorable. Each finished tree became a personal expression of their visit and a meaningful keepsake to take home.
