Samsung C&T celebrated the 88th anniversary of its founding with an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding employees across the company.

Jusung Park, Head of SNG—Samsung C&T’s Indonesian palm business subsidiary—received this year’s Best T&I Employee Award. Park was recognized for improving harvesting conditions to achieve record production and increasing crude palm oil (CPO) production by expanding external fresh fruit bunch (FFB) sourcing through a more stable and sustainable supply chain.

Park also drove meaningful ESG milestones such as enhancing CSR activities, supporting mutual growth with local communities, and strengthening occupational health and safety management systems across key operations. These efforts led to SNG receiving the Local Government’s Best Partner Award for Outstanding Collaboration with Local Small Business and a prestigious regional Human Rights Transformation Award.

In his acceptance speech, Park emphasized the collective effort: “This award belongs to all SNG employees working tirelessly on site. I deeply appreciate the company’s strong support for the palm business.”

Park’s story begins across SNG’s extensive plantation in Indonesia, where thousands of local employees work to strengthen the business foundation.

First Mission in the Field

Park was appointed to SNG in 2024. SNG operates in an industry where field conditions directly affect productivity. After taking on the role, Park focused on building upon the existing foundation to further optimize plantation operations.

To build on this foundation, SNG advanced infrastructure and plantation management to maximize fruit yields.

As part of these efforts, he initiated monthly face-to-face meetings with plantation and plant managers, while creating agile communication channels by role. “As soon as I was appointed, I focused on collecting real-time feedback,” Park said. “This allowed us to make agile and informed decisions, continue maintenance, and build a strong foundation to boost productivity.”

Building Safety and ESG Competitiveness

Improved plantation maintenance also helped strengthen SNG’s safety protocols, while upgraded infrastructure and optimized working conditions continued to support the advancement of a safer, more secure on-site environment.

“Prioritizing a safer workplace is the cornerstone of our operations,” Park emphasized. “Continuous enhancement of occupational health and safety remains a core operational priority as we pursue sustainable growth.”

Another key achievement was SNG’s progress in ESG management. To further strengthen community engagement, SNG continued aligning its operations with global standards while supporting mutual growth with local communities. Through these efforts, SNG received regional awards for outstanding collaboration with local small business and excellence in human rights practices.

Park reiterated that ESG management secures long-term competitiveness. Proactively aligning with evolving international compliance standards, maintaining relevant industry certifications, managing operational risks, and advancing workplace welfare and safety all strengthen business performance.

Holding on to Principles and Unity

Park credits these achievements to collective field effort. To foster a “we can do it too” culture, he set measurable goals for each plantation, backed by collaborative employee empowerment initiatives and enhanced workplace support.

To strengthen unity, Park joined employees during monthly plantation visits, shouting “Semangat” (an Indonesian expression for “We can do it!”) at morning assemblies.

He noted that SNG’s greatest asset is its people, particularly experienced global experts who bridge communication between teams in the Seoul Office and plantations, contributing operational ideas.

Park acknowledged the collective dedication: “By communicating positively and executing plans in the field, SNG achieved record production. I am deeply grateful to our senior leaders and field employees.”

Looking Ahead from the Field

Looking ahead, Park remains focused on stable productivity. “Our goal is to build a sustainable management system that integrates environmental responsibility with our business operations,” he said. “We also aim to continually optimize our operations and contribute significantly to the stability of the global sustainable resources supply chain.” Throughout, the core message remained: the best solutions come from listening to the realities in the field.
