A spectacular show of light, sound and fireworks is filling the night sky at Everland this summer as South Korea’s biggest theme park has launched Time Odyssey, a new illumination fantasy performance.
The multimedia show, featuring thousands of flames, mapped images, and other special effects, centers on the theme of life’s race through time and the importance of cherishing precious family memories.
Renowned producer Choi Kwang-il was involved in the preparations for the show, called Time Odyssey, which took a total of six months.
Everland visitors can enjoy the performance at no extra charge as a perfect way to close a magical day at the theme park, which is operated by Samsung C&T Resort Group and situated in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, about 45 minutes south of Seoul.
Korea’s largest show of its kind
Every night, Time Odyssey invites spectators to immerse themselves in the country’s biggest outdoor performance involving screens, which are lit up by 100,000 LEDs.
The show takes place in the Four Seasons Garden and across the Temple Stage main screen as well as on a special 40m-diameter display set up on the face of the legendary Universe Big Wheel. The much-loved Ferris wheel delighted visitors for nearly three decades before it was retired in August 2010. Since then, it has come back to life as a VR attraction and now as an awe-inspiring circle of light after dark.
As for the Temple Stage screen, it has been enlarged to 74m x 23m, while the Four Seasons Garden also features around 500 more LEDs that blink along with the show’s story.
A great time to remember
The performance is not only a feast for the eyes, but also for the heart. Its creators have aimed to emphasize the role of relationships in life and to offer the audience time to find real healing through fantasy.
Time Odyssey runs for 15 minutes and can be viewed from Everland’s Four Seasons Garden each night at 9.40 p.m. The Four Seasons Garden Stage and Universe Big Wheel are also hosting pop music and light shows every evening as soon as the sun sets.
In addition to checking out those spectacles, Everland visitors can cool off with the 66-day Summer Water Fun Festival that runs concurrently this summer with Time Odyssey. Festivalgoers can find a wide range of fun activities, from dancing with friends in a night club experience to honing their water shooting skills in a Nerf Water Battle Zone.
