This autumn, visitors to Everland can step inside a horror movie, choose their own route and become part of the story. Blood City Zero: Hell Gate transforms an entire themed area into a living stage where cinematic horror, interactive missions and live performances unfold around the audience.
Operated by Samsung C&T Resort Group, Everland opened Blood City Zero on September 12 for a 72-day run through November 22. Developed in special collaboration with Korean film director Lee Seok-hoon, the experience combines cinematic storytelling, live performances, interactive missions and zombie encounters across five themed zones.
A Horror Blockbuster Comes to Life
First introduced in 2017, Blood City is now in its tenth season. More than 10 million visitors have experienced the attraction since its debut, establishing it as one of Korea’s best-known horror destinations.
For this year’s edition, Everland collaborated with director Lee Seok-hoon, known for box-office hits including The Pirates and Confidential Assignment 2: International, to bring the atmosphere and visual language of a large-scale horror film to the park. Cinematic staging and carefully designed mise-en-scène extend across Blood City, creating the feeling of stepping into a blockbuster horror production.
At the heart of this year’s attraction is Korea’s first large-scale outdoor immersive horror performance. With the boundaries between stage and audience removed, the entire Blood City area becomes a performance space where zombie encounters, interactive missions, and dance performances unfold simultaneously.
Five Immersive Zones Put Visitors Inside the Story
Participants become White Z agents fighting the zombie army led by Dark X. They can freely explore five themed zones: Hell Gate, Laboratory Out of Control, Circus of Madness, Bloodstained Schoolyard and Platform of Doom.
A pre-show video created by director Lee plays on a screen behind Hell Gate. Designed like a theatrical movie trailer, it introduces the story and sets the tone before the experience begins.
Across the five zones, dozens of performers appear without warning, from zombies towering more than two meters tall to a zombie school disciplinarian. They speak directly to visitors, initiate games and assign roles and missions that draw the audience deeper into the narrative. Participants can follow the characters and zones that interest them as performances unfold in every direction.
At several points, zombies and White Z agents from across Blood City assemble for large-scale flash mobs. After watching the performance and completing the mission in each zone, participants receive a stamp on their agent card. Those who finish every mission receive priority boarding for MONIMO RUSH, which has been transformed into the Platform of Doom for the festival.
A five-meter-tall inflatable figure of the zombie stationmaster guarding the platform dominates MONIMO RUSH Plaza. Meanwhile, 30,000-ANSI-lumen 4K Panasonic projectors bring eerie scenes to life across Blood City Plaza and MONIMO RUSH. The immersive performance runs daily from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is available to all Everland visitors at no additional charge.
Themed Food Merchandise and Zombie Makeovers
The Blood City Zero experience extends to themed merchandise, food and opportunities for visitors to transform into characters from its world.
A total of 38 new products are available for the season, including skeleton hooded capes and horned caps. At Alps Kuche restaurant, visitors can try unusual horror-themed menu items such as Dark Energy Black Chicken Curry Rice and Laboratory Potion.
Visitors can also step into the Zombie Costume Room and Zombie Makeup Salon to complete their transformation before exploring the performances and missions across Blood City.
More Ways to Experience Autumn at Everland
Beyond Blood City Zero, Everland’s autumn festival offers a variety of seasonal experiences for families, including a walking safari, special performances, and colorful themed gardens.
Also opened on September 12, Wild Savanna Expedition invites visitors to explore Lost Valley on foot and observe 15 animal species, including giraffes, elephants and rhinoceroses, from a closer perspective than the safari vehicles usually provide.
A Full Season of Autumn Adventures
The Smiley Pumpkin Parade takes place daily throughout the festival, bringing pumpkin- and skeleton-themed floats and performers to Everland’s parade route. A new band performance inspired by animal characters from Ppupa Town, including alpacas and capybaras, is scheduled to debut in late September.
Four Seasons Garden, one of Everland’s signature outdoor spaces, has transformed into an autumn-themed garden filled with seasonal flowers and plants, offering colorful backdrops for festival photos.
Blood City Zero and Everland’s autumn festival run from September 12 through November 22, bringing immersive horror, wildlife encounters, performances, and seasonal scenery together across the park.
