Samsung C&T makes Most Admired Company list for 16th straight year

Samsung C&T again ranked among Korea’s All-Star companies, according to 2020 Korea’s Most Admired Companies survey result announced by Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC) on Feb. 25.

The All-Star list was made up of the top 30 Korean firms deemed excellent in competitiveness and values through an overall company evaluation. Samsung C&T ranked 15th in the 2020 list, up 13 places from last year having received excellent scores in shareholder value, based on financial solvency and management asset utilization, as well as social value, which evaluated social contribution and eco-friendly management.

Samsung C&T’s business groups also performed well in their respective industry sectors. Trading & Investment Group kept its number one ranking for the 16th consecutive year due to the strength of its financial solvency and human resource development, while Engineering & Construction Group earned first place for the 14th year thanks to its high product and service quality along with customer satisfaction. Meanwhile, Fashion Group ranked second in its sector and Resort Group was able to contribute to the All-Star evaluation even in the absence of an award for its sector.

The Korea’s Most Admired Companies survey has been published by KMAC since 2004. Based on Fortune magazine’s renowned global equivalent, the survey is tailored to Korean business factors. It is the country’s only survey that comprehensively evaluates the values of entire companies, aiming to provide a clear picture to stakeholders and customers while suggesting management directions to firms.

The 2020 edition surveyed around 13,000 people, including executives, analysts, and consumers. It scrutinized 784 Korean firms according to six areas: innovation ability, shareholder value, employee value, customer value, social value, and image value.

Among Samsung affiliates, Samsung Electronics (1st), Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance (18th), and Samsung Life Insurance (25th) were also ranked as All-Star.

Samsung C&T’s recognition follows its listing in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World for a third consecutive year. Along with Samsung Electronics, it was also named among the Top 100 in the 2019 Diversity & Inclusion Index announced by Refinitiv, the financial information provider partially owned by Thomson Reuters. These acknowledgements demonstrate how Samsung C&T’s corporate values are recognized not only according to its business performance but also sustainability factors like the environment, social responsibility, and shareholder-friendly policies.
