Everland keeps summer visitors cool

South Korea’s biggest theme park is making sure visitors keep cool this summer by adding refreshment at every opportunity – from the mist of Everland’s Tropical Summer Garden to a downright drenching, courtesy of special interactive performances.

Operated by Samsung C&T’s Resort Group, Everland is presenting its Summer Water Fun festival through the country’s most hot and humid period until Aug. 25.

Get drenched in Carnival Square

The water excitement starts soon after the sun passes its midday peak, and Carnival Square comes alive with Bomb Bomb Soldier, a performance that invites the audience to join in the fun. Kids can bring their own water guns or get them on location and fire at actors dressed up as “Bomb Bomb men” – but participants better be ready for payback because the event closes with an explosion of water!

“Bomb Bomb men” challenge Everland visitors to a water fight.

A massive Shooting Water Fun show then brings out even more performers – around 60 in total – for a spectacular drench fest. Whole families can get doused in unison by giant buckets and parade vehicles as they watch a 30-minute dramatic storyline play out in a race against time.

Once everyone is wet, the Bomb Bomb Club opens up for the crowd to let loose and dance to rock and EDM music while surrounded by monsoon-like conditions.

For those who want to continue the water gun action, they can head over to the Nerf Water Battle Zone, which hosts “Bomb Bomb men” as enemy targets during special times. The zone features more action than last year in a bigger space with 11 cool water-fueled games. For most of the day visitors can borrow Super Soaker guns for free within the zone and play freely.

Refreshing mist in a tropical paradise

For a more relaxing cool-down, Everland is operating a Tropical Summer Garden within the theme park’s 10,000m2 floral exhibition.

Visitors may stroll through mist-filled arches as they admire tropical plants adorned with huge leaves, including banana, alocasia and achmea varieties. Couples in particular might fall in love with summer under colorful bamboo parasols and other memorable photo spots.

Other restful attractions to look out for are themed restaurants and lounges such as Amsterdam and Cucina Mario, as well as querencia-style indoor chillout areas.

A night worth staying for

The magic of Everland continues well into the evening when a new illuminated fantasy performance explodes into the night sky for a dramatic finale from 9:30 p.m. In fact, Time Odyssey is the country’s biggest outdoor performance involving screens. With thousands of fireworks and LEDs, the late crowd is sure to be delighted by the show, which encourages onlookers to bask in memories for around 15 minutes.

Before Time Odyssey gets underway, Everland’s avenues make way for the theme park’s iconic Moonlight Parade. This summer, there are also other sources of evening entertainment, such as the Summer Crush Rock Band and Rose Music Show performances.

For adventurous types, the recently opened Raptor Ranger dinosaur-themed zone turns into a battleground after 5 p.m. Teams can kit themselves up with laser tag guns and protective equipment, before taking each other on in Death Match Real Survival, which is presented in collaboration with the hugely popular Battleground Mobile game. Anyone can participate free of charge on a first-come-first-served basis until July 28.

Death Match Real Survival participants can put their Battleground Mobile skills to the test.
