Caribbean Bay unleashes Mega Wave this summer (and free Everland entry!)

Surf’s up for the most refreshing party of the summer, as South Korea’s original and largest water park, Caribbean Bay, is hosting its Mega Wave Festival until the middle of next month. The Samsung C&T-operated facility just outside Seoul is also offering a special deal that allows visitors to the water park to enjoy the neighboring theme park, Everland, for free. In addition to the festival, Caribbean Bay will be opening its outdoor thrill attractions Aqua Loop and Water Bobsleigh for the first time on July 29. So, it looks like this is the summer of music, wave pools, flyboard fun, thrilling waterslides – as well as roller coasters and all the magic Everland has to offer.

Mega party for the whole family

Caribbean Bay Mega Wave Festival – the Mega Pool Party

One of the highlights of the Mega Wave Festival – which runs until Aug. 18 – is the Mega Pool Party. Held in the water park’s 120x104m outdoor wave pool, and with an even bigger stage than last year, the festival will blare out EDM and hip-hop tunes while also lobbing water bombs. The lineup features famous artists and DJs such as Park Na-rae and DinDin as well as Caribbean Bay model Hwasa and her girl group Mamamoo. As of July 20, the Mega Pool Party Super Stage is also offering up performances in relay by Momoland, Mamison, Skull & Haha, and Jessie. Details can be found here.

Caribbean Bay Mega Wave Festival – the Mega Flyboard Show

Another spectacular attraction is the Mega Flyboard Show, also in the outdoor wave pool. Flyboarding has actually developed into a sport, and the first Flyboard World Championships took place in 2012. The show demonstrates what it is all about – water pressure from cool jets shooting people up to 20m in the air – with world champion Park Jin-min performing everything from aerial rotations to underwater dives.

Caribbean Bay Mega Wave Festival – the Water Playground

For younger kids, there is the Water Playground where children can try their luck getting through obstacles like a log bridge and stepping stones. The fountain area next to the Kiddy Pool is also holding fun games, which are free to play and all participants get a gift – and there is a priority boarding pass for the highly popular waterslide Mega Storm to be won by anyone who gets a maximum score in the rapid tapping game Speed Nanta. Plus, more priority passes can be earned among the prizes at Mega Storm’s N Blue Circuit experience zone in collaboration with Hyundai Motor’s high-performance N brand.

Caribbean Bay Mega Wave Festival – the Mega BBQ & Beer Festival

If all that sounds appetite-inducing, then Caribbean Bay is also serving up the Mega BBQ & Beer Festival until Aug. 15. The menus at San Juan and Harbor Master restaurants feature a wide selection of dishes including smoky scent pork ribs, exotic turkey legs, chicken, shrimp and sausages, served with sides such as bread, vegetables and nacho chips. All that can be washed down with a choice of cool beers – Edinger, Qingdao and Schmucker.

Twice the fun with free Everland entry

Of course it can be challenging to choose between the thrills of Everland and Caribbean Bay, but debate no more. All the way to Aug. 25, this summer’s special offer enables Caribbean Bay visitors to also head over to Everland on the same day free of charge. Click here for more information, including terms and conditions.

The beauty of the Everland summer experience is that it continues until 10 p.m. every night. Not only does the theme park’s Summer Water Fun festival present plenty of its own opportunities to get cool and refreshed, there are some really special evening events.

Caribbean Bay Mega Wave Festival – A Midsummer Night’s Firefly Experience

A Midsummer Night’s Firefly Experience runs every day from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. until Aug. 18, allowing guests to closely observe thousands of fireflies – a clean environment indicator insect that is not easily spotted in the city. Combined with Everland’s new illuminated Time Odyssey performance and Moonlight Parade, there are endless nocturnal surprises in store. For an extra charge of 5,000 won (USD 4.20) per person, the brave of heart can also take on a Horror Maze that may well chill the bones as well as the heat. This pre-Halloween treat opens every night until 9 p.m.

Everland’s new illuminated Time Odyssey performance

Everland and Caribbean Bay are located on the same site in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, surrounded by parking and shuttle bus facilities. There are plenty of ways to travel there, but this summer season offers a special Shuttle Bus Round-Trip Package, which is available via social commerce platform Wemakeprice until Aug. 25.
