Samsung C&T’s palm plantations newly ISO certified for EMS standard

PT. Gandaerah Hendana and PT. Inecda, subsidiaries of Samsung C&T Trading & Investment Group that operate palm plantations in Indonesia, have been certified to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) standard.

The two palm plantations cover 19,700 hectares on Indonesia’s Sumatra Island, with the capacity to produce 90,000 tons of crude palm oil (CPO) annually. PT. Gandaerah Hendana and PT. Inecda received final confirmation following on-site surveillance audits by the ISO technical committee on the two palm fruit processing facilities.

ISO 14001 certificates received by PT

ISO 14001 is an international standard for corporate environmental management systems created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It provides requirements concerning the establishment, enhancement, and efficient management of environmental management systems.

The certification recognizes those plantations’ systematic implementation of an environmental management system at its palm processing facilities that conforms to global criteria, including minimal energy use, compliance with environmental regulations, and continuous efforts for improvement. The plantations remain committed to realizing sustainability, having also received Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification and adopted a No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation (NDPE) policy.

By applying new technologies and expanding infrastructure, PT. Gandaerah Hendana and PT. Inecda will continue its efforts to develop environment-friendly and sustainable businesses and to contribute to local communities.
